Today I’m honoured to share an adorable retail shop here in Vancouver near and dear to my heart. Walrus is a gem of a store located in the Cambie Village area of Vancouver. Owners, Caroline Boquist and Daniel Kozlowski not only have exquisite taste, but they are also two of most dearest shopkeepers ever, who are not only knowledgeable about their products and the people who make them, but also very supportive in the art and design community here. There’s always something interesting to be told about the products they carry and whenever anyone walks in, there’s a feeling of genuine open arms, like visiting an old friend. 
 
If picking up something special for a family member or a thoughtful hostess gift, Walrus always has a beautifully edited selection.  Let’s take a look!

Established in 2009, by Caroline Boquist and Daniel Kozlowski, Walrus is a boutique retail shop in the heart of Vancouver that celebrates well-crafted, functional and playful items for you and your loved ones. We carry designs by long-established brands as well as up-and-comers, with an emphasis on Canadian design. If you walk by some time in the evening, and happen to see our shop jammed with people sipping wine, come on in. We’re usually celebrating something fun in the world of art and design. Anything by studio arhoj we love! we’re getting in the sip cups, slup cups, handled mugs, etc. but they are sure to brighten anyone’s day.

These beautiful tea light holders are handmade in Nanaimo and are so beautiful lit or unlit! 
Fitz puzzle is another great local company that commissions artists for the puzzle artwork!

Jan Halvarson

Jan founded Poppytalk in 2005 while a student at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design (now ECU) to catalogue inspiration from typography to interior design. Since then she’s collaborated with Target (creating a limited edition glamping collection), a wallpaper collection with Milton & King, as well has written as a contributor at Wired, Martha Stewart and Huffington Post.
